Rainbow Baby | Austin

A rainbow baby is a baby born after the loss of a child.
It is understood that the beauty of a rainbow does not negate the ravages of any storm. When a rainbow appears, it does not mean the storm never happened or that we are not still dealing with its aftermath. It means that something beautiful and full of light has appeared in the midst of the darkness and clouds. Storm clouds may still hover, but the rainbow provides a balance of color, energy and hope. Austin’s newborn session was a very special one for me. His momma is my cousin, and she and Austin’s daddy had the awful of experience of losing their baby girl Amelia just the year before after being born prematurely. I can not even begin to understand the pain of losing a child. It is so unfair, and no parent should ever have to experience that – ever. Amelia made sure that her little brother Austin arrived here with their parents safe, sound and perfect!

No matter how long the rain lasts, there will be a rainbow at the end. No matter how sad you may be, believe that happiness is waiting. ~ Unknown.

This bear is a “Molly Bear”. Molly Bears are weighted to weigh the same as one’s angel baby – and of course, in this case Austin’s big sister, Amelia.
