Maternity Photography | Safia’s Maternity Session

Maternity photography is an excellent way to celebrate the upcoming arrival of your sweet new baby and capture the beauty and excitement of this special moment in your lives.

Safia joined us in the studio at 32 weeks gestation to celebrate her second pregnancy. She is expecting a sweet baby girl, and has a handsome little boy at home!

 

Timing

One of the most important factors when planning your maternity session is timing.
We recommend booking your session in your first or early in your second trimester to guarantee we can accommodate your due date. We normally photograph expecting mother’s maternity sessions in the 28-34 week gestation range who are expecting their first babies and have no known complications. Subsequent pregnancies, mamas of multiples or anyone who is high risk or facing any potential complications or pre-term delivery may be photographed earlier (or sometimes even later) than this range.
There are several reasons this time frame is ideal for almost everyone. Most mamas at this point are showing well and have a nice round baby bump – and are still comfortable enough to move around and change outfits and poses during the session. By scheduling early, this also allows us some time forgiveness if mama needs to reschedule her session for any reason – allowing us to still capture her pregnancy before delivery. The last few weeks of pregnancy are notoriously the worst – so we always want to get you in well before the aches, pains and Braxton-Hicks set in!
