My First Rodeo Cake Smash | Makaylah
As a professional cake smash photographer in Atlanta, I’ve had the pleasure of capturing so many sweet milestones, and we just added Makaylah’s My First Rodeo Cake Smash to the books!
This little cowgirl brought all the charm – and a few tears to her session – making it a rootin’ tootin’ experience we’ll never forget!
A Year of Makaylah
Makaylah’s cake smash marked her third session with us this year. From her newborn photos to her 6-month sitter session, it’s been such a joy watching her grow.
Seeing her little personality shine through in this rodeo-themed cake smash was the cherry on top of an incredible year of capturing her milestones.
A Set Worthy of a Cowgirl
Makaylah’s My First Rodeo theme was inspired by her first birthday party, and I wanted to make sure the set was as special as she is.
We went all out and created a pink barn, adorable farm animals, and plenty of pink flowers and balloons to put together this adorable backdrop.
The pièce de résistance? A rocking horse that I hand-painted and “re-mained” (yes, I gave it a fabulous new mane) just for this session.
It was a labor of love and completely worth it when I saw how perfectly it turned out, how adorable it was and how it tied the set together.
Makaylah’s outfits were absolutely adorable. She rocked the cutest cow print ensembles, complete with an adorable pink-and-cow-print birthday crown, and a pink cowgirl hat.
Her pink-and-cow-print cake was the icing on the cake – literally! Every detail came together to create the ultimate rodeo vibe, and I couldn’t have been happier with how it all looked.
After all, pink *IS* my favorite color!
Smiles, Tears, and Everything in Between
Now, let’s talk about the star of the show – sweet Miss Makaylah!
Like any true cowgirl, she had her moments of joy and a few moments where the wild rodeo felt like a bit too much. And that’s okay!
Cake smash sessions are all about capturing your baby’s personality, and oftentimes that includes a few tears.
But don’t worry – we also got plenty of adorable smiles and giggles in between the waterworks.
Makaylah wasn’t a huge fan of her cake. She hesitated at first, and dipped some of her own snacks in the frosting before diving in with both hands.
Her expressions ranged from curiosity to delight, and yes, we caught a few “what is this sticky stuff?” faces, too. Those candid moments are the heart and soul of a cake smash session, and they’re what make each one so unique.
Why Cake Smashes Are the Best
Makaylah’s My First Rodeo Cake Smash is a perfect example of why I love what I do.
These sessions are about more than just cute photos (although we definitely got plenty of those). They’re about celebrating a huge milestone in your baby’s life and capturing memories that you’ll treasure forever.
Whether your little one is all smiles or brings a mix of emotions to the session, every moment is worth celebrating. And let’s be honest – even the crying photos are adorable when they’re part of a fun theme like this one.
Makaylah’s session reminds us all that sometimes the best moments are the ones we didn’t plan for.
